English Classes

Writing & Reading (Primary 1 to 6):

⭐️ Write effective compositions of different text types using the 5-step writing process of planning, drafting, revising, editing and publishing. To prepare students for their writing tasks, the features of each text type are introduced and focused practice on the planning, organisational and language skills for writing good compositions of particular genres is provided.

⭐️ Acquire the reading comprehension skills to understand the meaning in a range of fiction and nonfiction texts: finding the main idea, reading for details, using contextual clues, sequencing, comparing and contrasting, summarising, predicting, making inferences, identifying cause and effect, differentiating between fact and opinion, drawing conclusions, identifying author’s purpose and point of view.

⭐️ Expand vocabulary and develop the critical link between vocabulary and reading comprehension by learning vocabulary in context.

English Foundation (K3):

⭐️ Discover grammar and punctuation with engaging reading selections and writing activities that stimulate learning to build a good English foundation.

⭐️ Develop the reading comprehension skills needed to understand, respond to and enjoy fiction and non-fiction texts about meaningful topics. 

⭐️ Build vocabulary with read-aloud stories and poems to learn new words in context using colourful material and fun activities. A strong vocabulary supports reading comprehension and writing in primary school years.
